Stand with the persecuted church: Pray for the nations

Join Elim Missions and Elim Prayer for a powerful livestream prayer event on Sunday 1 November 2026

On Sunday 1 November at 6pm, Elim Missions and Elim Prayer invite you to a special online and in-person prayer gathering: Pray for the Nations.

This event marks the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, a moment to stand in solidarity with believers across the globe who face hardship, persecution, and danger for their faith. We’ll hear directly from Elim Missionaries, Global Partners, and those serving in regions of intense persecution — voices that remind us of the courage and faithfulness of the global church.

Whether you join us online on our YouTube channel or in person at Cardiff City Church, this is an opportunity to lift up the names, stories, and situations of those who may never have been brought before God in prayer.

Let’s come together as one church, across nations, to pray bold prayers — not for ease, but for strength, healing, and the power of God to be revealed. 

Standing together in prayer

For many of us, gathering openly to worship, pray and share our faith is something we can easily take for granted. Across the world, countless followers of Jesus live out that same calling in very different circumstances, facing opposition, restriction and persecution because of their faith.

This evening gives us an opportunity to stand with them, to hear something of the realities they face, and to use the freedom we have to pray for those who do not share those same freedoms. It is also a chance to lift our eyes beyond our own churches and communities and remember our shared calling to take the good news of Jesus to the nations.

Acts 1:8 will help shape our prayers:

"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Together, we will pray around three themes:

• Power: that followers of Jesus would be empowered by the Holy Spirit for courageous witness.
• Presence: that those facing persecution and suffering would know the comfort and nearness of God.
• Peace: that God would bring reconciliation, breakthrough and peace in places of conflict and hostility, and make His people ministers of reconciliation.

An evening of encounter

During the evening, we will hear from Elim missionaries, Global Partners and people serving in places of intense persecution, as they help us understand their context and lead us in prayer for their nations.

We will also pray for unreached people groups, many of whom remain unreached because access to the gospel is difficult or dangerous. Around 7,000 people groups worldwide are still considered unreached. As an Elim family, we want to be a movement of people who pray and go, asking God to raise up people who will carry the good news of Jesus to those who have not yet heard.

Our hope is that this will be more than one evening of prayer. We are preparing a resource pack to help churches continue praying for persecuted believers and unreached people groups beyond the event, and we will share further details nearer the time.

How to get involved

• Save Sunday 1 November, 6.00pm to 7.30pm
• Consider how your church could gather and join the livestream, in homes or in your church building
• Begin encouraging your congregation to pray for the persecuted church and the nations
