Brotherhood - Making Disciples
“How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!.... for there the Lord bestows His blessing even life forevermore.” Psalm 133: 1-3
Remember The Rugby World Cup, or are you trying to forget it ever happened?! For the UK’s home nations it was a bruising and frustrating campaign on soooo many different levels, on and off the pitch…
The Telegraph (10/11/15) ran an interview with England full back Mike Brown in the aftermath of his team’s exit from the competition. The focus of the piece was on claims that “anonymous” individuals from within the dressing room were alleged to have leaked stories and made criticisms of the management public. What intrigued me most was Brown’s declaration on a number of occasions that trust had been “completely shot now.”
Normally, any sort of World Cup or tournament experience bonds team mates and creates a band of brothers who have such a shared experience that fuses their lives together for the rest of their days. But here, because trust is gone there is no togetherness, even to the point where Brown says “It is going to be hard to call anyone team mates until we meet up.”
Psalm 133 raises the game for men of God- “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!.... for there the Lord bestows His blessing even life forevermore.” (V1 & 3b). There is something about unity, trust, togetherness that pleases our Heavenly Father.
Points to Ponder…
Who are you “in team” with for the Lord, can they trust you on every level, are you living in the blessing that unity in the Lord can bring to your life?
Prayer
Lord, Help me today to become someone that others can trust. Show me ways to honour you through being committed to you and committed to my brothers in Christ. I pray that those qualities of trust and unity will be pillars that I build into the rest of my life.
