Regents Theological College launches London campus

davenewton300A renewed sense of urgency has led to the decision to set up an Elim teaching base in the capital, explains Dave Newton

With a population of almost nine million people and over 300 languages spoken across the area, it is clear that the world has well and truly come to London. Perhaps this is also one reason why almost 20 per cent of Elim’s 550 churches are in the London area.

That said, it is some time since Elim’s Bible college (Regents Theological College) has had a teaching base in the capital city. Clapham, of course, was the original home of training for Elim back in 1925 when a demand to train women and men as pioneers, missionaries, pastors and teachers surged. So why London again and why now?

Regents Theological College has a fantastic base in Malvern which continues to attract people to live and train residentially alongside many who visit for focused teaching weeks while continuing within their ministry/work context. The site in Malvern will continue and offer the widest range of ministry training.

RTC will be joining forces with Kensington
Temple, which has a fantastic training record

However, it has always been our aspiration to ensure training is accessible and flexible, and with this in mind establishing a teaching location in the capital has been a desire for some time. That being so, we will be building on the fantastic training record of Kensington Temple to join forces in launching Regents Theological College London.

The campus will start teaching from September offering a Regents Certificate in Leadership and Discipleship. Initially this evening programme will be targeted at the everyday person hoping to sharpen their skills and knowledge to make a difference in their community. It will cover topics such as: The Healthy Leader; Making sense of the Bible; Spiritual formation and Discipleship; Gospel and Mission; Spiritually Empowered Disciples; The Big Questions of Life.

From September 2024 it is our intention to begin a full timetable of validated degree-based courses at Undergraduate and Post Graduate level alongside our Ministry Foundation Certificate, with the express purpose of training people for the mission that God is calling them to.

We are convinced that the renewed sense of urgency in the call to mission for Elim as a movement requires adaptation and innovation. This step is an attempt to amplify our training efforts to ensure more people are equipped and mobilised for the mission at this time.

At Regents Theological College we remain convinced of the imperative to train and equip women and men to be Kingdom builders, gospel carriers, and Holy Spirit enabled people in this season.
