Seeking the mandate of the Lord

Chris, the outgoing General Superintendent, emphasised the importance of seeking God's will and anointing for the season ahead. He shared that while the conference had voted for Mark and Nita, the most important mandate is from the Lord.

Speaking to those present, Chris said, “I want to ask you as we pray and the NLT join me to lay hands on them and commission what has already been conference approved, what has already been decided by us, that something would happen both tonight and in the weeks ahead that is absolute. That mantles would come upon you, giftings would be amplified, selected for this season.”

A call to unity and revival

Mark thanked everyone who had given him the mandate to lead the Elim movement. He Mark commented, "The one mandate that I've really been concerned about is getting the mandate of the Lord because I believe when we step into things that he calls us to do, that he equips us in a way where nothing is impossible.”

He expressed his belief that God is at work in the nation and the nations, and that Elim has a part to play in that. Mark called for unity among the Elim churches represented at the Summit, believing that together they can see an astounding advance of the Gospel. He committed to serving the Lord faithfully and leading out of the presence of Jesus.

Commissioning Prayer

In keeping with tradition, Mark and Nita were presented with a Bible signed by the National Leadership Team. This symbolises Elim's foundation in the Word of God. Following this, the NLT members gathered around Mark and Nita for a commissioning prayer as part of an Acts 13 moment. The prayer acknowledged God's calling upon them and asked the Holy Spirit to separate them with power into this next season of leading forward in mission and faith.
