The pulse is beating and the world is listening...

Evangelism isn’t one ministry nor a programme to tick off, it shapes Elim’s mission, says Mark Greenwood

I have a stirring, a dream, a prophetic calling out of what is already in our DNA as a movement. It’s not a thing to strive for but rather a prayer to release what is within us.

Since taking over as Director of Elim Evangelism, I felt God lead me to make explicit what was implicit. I’ve observed, discovered and prayed, and want to share with you what Elim Evangelism is about, so that we can better support what God is doing in and through our movement in all sorts of places throughout our churches.

Feel the pulse hear the beat: the heart of Elim Evangelism

Evangelism isn’t simply one ministry among many within Elim. It isn’t a programme to tick off or an item to squeeze onto a crowded agenda. Evangelism is our pulse ‒ the steady, life-giving rhythm that shapes who we are and how we live out the mission of Jesus. It beats through our churches, our communities, and our everyday conversations. It’s the good news embodied, spoken, shown, and shared with fun, faith, creativity and deep love for both God and people.

At its core, Elim Evangelism embraces a way of life that flows with authenticity and expectancy. It begins with people ‒ real people with real stories ‒ and continues with a commitment to journey alongside them rather than rush them towards a decision. We believe every interaction can become a sacred space where Jesus is gently revealed.

A journey, not a moment

True evangelism is rarely instant. It grows through friendship, questions, and encounters that unfold over time. That’s why we describe our approach as journey based. We walk with people at their pace, listen to their worldview, honour their experiences, and create opportunities to explore Jesus together. Each conversation becomes an invitation. Every conversation carries hope.

Words that speak today

The gospel hasn’t changed, but the world has. So we are committed to using relevant words ‒ language that is biblical yet beautifully relatable. We communicate the timeless truth of Jesus in ways people today can genuinely hear and understand. Bold but never brash. Clear but never cold. Always pointing to the hope found in Christ.

Love in action

Our belief in evangelism extends beyond speaking; it moves into serving. Caring actions express the gospel without needing to announce it. From acts of generosity to quiet moments of compassion, we aim to lift others with no hidden agenda. Love that listens and love that helps often opens doors that words alone never could.

Empowered by the Spirit

We also make room for the extraordinary within the ordinary. Elim Evangelism is Spirit-empowered ‒ marked by prayerful expectancy for God to move. We believe the Holy Spirit still heals, leads, transforms, and surprises. Signs and wonders are not museum pieces from the early church; they are part of the living reality of God’s Kingdom today.

Creative, faith-filled, and courageous

Sharing Jesus calls for imagination and courage. That’s why we embrace a creative and entrepreneurial spirit, finding fresh ways to communicate hope. Whether through digital storytelling, community innovation, or unexpected partnerships, we take faithful risks for the sake of the Kingdom.

At the same time, we remain faithful and faith-filled ‒ rooted in the promises of God yet alive with anticipation for more. We believe for transformation, revival, and renewal, not as distant dreams but as present possibilities.

Equipping every believer

Evangelism is not the calling of a few but the privilege of us all. That’s why we are passionate about equipping and releasing believers ‒ helping every Christian discover their voice, their story, and their confidence in sharing Jesus. Every church member can become a witness; every evangelist can be encouraged and released.

Our vision is simple but profound: to see evangelism beating at the heart of every Elim church, inspiring believers, transforming communities, and revealing Jesus in word, deed, and power.

Join the movement. Equip your church. Share your story. The pulse is beating ‒ and the world is listening.
