Share Jesus alongside a local church in 2027
Join an Elim Evangelism Team for a few days of prayer, training and real conversations, and come home with confidence that lasts.
"I never thought I was going to enjoy the experience of evangelism so much."
That's what one person said after spending a couple of days with an Elim Evangelism Team in Gloucester. They hadn't expected to enjoy it. But they found themselves praying for people, having real conversations and seeing God at work in everyday moments.
If you've ever wondered whether evangelism is for you, or you'd love to share Jesus but don't know where to start, an Elim Evangelism Team could be the answer.
What is an Elim Evangelism Team?
It's a group of people from across Elim and the Elim Network who share a heart for telling others about Jesus. Together, they spend a few days alongside a local church, learning, encouraging one another and putting evangelism into practice.
You don't need to join every mission. Come to whichever one works for you.
What would you actually do?
Start the day in prayer. Each day begins at around 8:30am with prayer and some further equipping for the day ahead. You'll head out knowing what you're doing, and why, with people beside you.
Get out into the community. No two days look the same. Depending on the church and its community, you might be involved in outreach, community fun days, door-to-door evangelism, conversations on the street or leaflet delivery. You'll also have the chance to pray for people and share your own story and the gospel.
Door-knocking can sound daunting, but it's often where the best moments happen. A member from Gloucester Elim was part of the team in Scarborough. "People are so open," he said.
Gather for meetings. Gospel proclamation and healing meetings are part of every mission, as the church and the team come together to pray and see what God does.
Finish the day together. Days usually end in the evening, but when there's an evening event, the team gets time off in the afternoon. Missions last between two and four days, and every day brings its own encounters.
You don't need to be an expert
You will be trained and equipped. Before each mission, team members take part in online Connect and Equip sessions: a place to build confidence, ask questions and get to know the people you will be serving with.

People from all kinds of backgrounds. Teams are made up of people with different experiences, who share a heart for telling others about Jesus and a desire to grow in it. If you attend an Elim or Elim Network church, you're welcome to apply.
Real stories of people stepping out. At Christchurch Community Church, members were trained in sharing their story, sharing the gospel, and street and door-to-door evangelism. Some had never shared Jesus on the street before. By the end, they felt equipped and confident to keep going.
It costs you your time. That's the only cost. You make your own way to the host church, but transport shouldn't stop you joining because the team can work around it. The church provides meals and accommodation through members of its congregation.
What you will bring home
Confidence you can use. You'll come home with practical skills and the confidence to use them: starting conversations, sharing your story, praying for people. They go back to your own church with you.
New friendships. Serving alongside a team and a local church builds relationships quickly. A member of the Gloucester team described the experience as "a privilege and joy".
Fresh vision for your church. Our hope is that those who join a team will be an asset to their own church, helping to spark something among others around sharing the gospel. One team member told us: "In my home church we are starting healing on the streets and I will be heading the evangelism efforts. I am excited about that."

Is your church ready for a team?
If you are a church leader, a team could stand alongside your church for a few days, helping you reach your community and equipping your people to keep going afterwards. Teams are hosted by local churches, with meals and accommodation provided through members of the congregation.
To talk about hosting a team, in 2027 or in 2028, email Sarah at sarah.weaver@elim.org.uk. There's no commitment in asking.
