Elim Evangelism Teams: your questions answered
Everything you need to know about joining an Elim Evangelism Team.
Thinking about joining an Elim Evangelism Team (EET) but not sure what to expect? Here are answers to the questions we hear most often. If there's anything else you'd like to know, get in touch with EET Lead Sarah Weaver: 07807 703517 or sarah.weaver@elim.org.uk.
Why join?
We are in a really exciting time within the Elim movement and of course within the nation and I would love to encourage you to think about joining an Elim Evangelism Team (EET). I really believe that the Lord is at work and the harvest is ready. There is a real opportunity for those with an evangelist heart to step in and step out.
How much will it cost me?
There's no cost to join a team. You'll need to make your own travel arrangements to the mission location, but please don't let that be a barrier — we can help work around transport difficulties. Once you're there, everything else is taken care of: accommodation is provided by host families from the local congregation, and all meals are included. You'll have breakfast with your host and enjoy lunch and evening meals together as a team.
What's the process for joining?
Start by completing a short application form with some basic information about yourself. Once we receive it, our EET Lead will reach out to your Senior Minister for a reference and arrange an informal Zoom call with you at a time that suits. The call is a relaxed conversation — a chance to hear more about what EET involvement looks like and for you to share a little of your story.
After that, you'll be invited to attend four Connect and Equip Zoom sessions held throughout the year. These provide training, space to ask questions, and an opportunity to get to know the rest of the team before you head out on mission.
Do I have to attend the whole mission?
Yes — our missions typically run Wednesday to Sunday, and we ask that everyone who joins is fully committed for the whole week. Dates are confirmed and released as soon as they're agreed with the local church.
Do I have to attend every mission?
Not at all. We run between three and four missions a year, but we don't expect anyone to come to all of them. Simply join whichever mission or missions work for you — just come fully committed when you do.
What training will I receive?
Training is woven throughout your EET experience. The Connect and Equip sessions before the mission give you a solid foundation, and each morning on mission begins with prayer, devotion, and practical equipping for the day ahead.
What will I actually be doing?
Every day looks a little different, but you can expect to be involved in one-to-one conversations on the streets, door-to-door evangelism, evangelistic outreach events, sharing your story, leaflet and gospel information delivery, prayer ministry, and supporting the local church in their regular programme.
Our days usually begin around 9:30am with prayer and devotion. Afternoons are spent out and about sharing Jesus, and evenings often feature a gospel outreach event. And don't worry — there are breaks built into each day, and if there's an evening event, you'll have time off in the afternoon to rest.
