Elim Missions volunteer placements are available to people from all walks of life, ethnic backgrounds and all ages. They will be given the opportunity to serve God overseas in a variety of ways, working together to see this world changed for Jesus.

Whether you embark on a short or long term placement, mission has the potential to have great impact not only in your life but also in the life of your church community and ministry.

Find a Short Term Placement

Short-term volunteer placements can range from a period of one week to up to one year. They can be for individuals or groups wishing to serve with a specific missionary or global partner; and to experience international missions first hand. Short-term mission placements must be fully funded by the applicant and are subject to completion of an Application Form, satisfactory references and a Criminal Records Check.

The cost of the placement will vary depending on location and will generally include the following: Criminal Records Check, Food, Accommodation, Transport (when in the country) and on line Training. It does not include Visa, Travel Insurance, Leisure and Tourist activities and spending money.

Zimbabwe

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

The work of the Elim Pentecostal church of Zimbabwe involves volunteering in primary schools, high school, Theological Bible College and the hospital at the Elim Mission. The work is based in two areas (Penhalonga and Katerere). There is also a mission station in Rusape currently under construction. Volunteers can assist in administration, music, teaching and public speaking as well as sports and fitness at Emmanuel High School in Katerere and Penhalonga Primary school in Mutare. Other ministries in Elim Zimbabwe include children and youth work, support to widows and career guidance for students. There are also opportunities in evangelism and church planting, nurturing and equipping the leaders of the church, training on missions, training on disciple making and training at the Theological Bible College based in Mutare.

Ideal opportunity for women with craft skills who can assist in the Be Free project. Here young women rescued from human exploitation are rehabilitated. Within the Early Learning Centre volunteers are required to teach the staff new techniques in childcare and crafts. Opportunities to serve in the Phnom Penh church and in the rural villages were churches are being planted. Assist in the kids clubs. Opportunities for English teachers. Practical skills such as building, decorating are also required to work on maintenance of the Elim Centre.

As Elim Missionaries in Estonia, we work with the EKNK Pentecostal Church denomination which is an Elim Global partner. There are 35 churches and we are helping more specifically to strengthen the smaller ones which number about 12. This gives us access into many different ministry-based opportunities. Teams can get involved in practical works, evangelism and serving in churches as well as visiting a rehab centre and finding peaceful places for time together as a team. Only 2.5 hours from the UK, the flights are usually great value and we aim to help host and support the team by creating a mixed and enjoyable itinerary.

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

Elim costa Brava is a Spanish church where people receive restoration, support, and the Word of God. It is led by Pastor Gabriel Rivera (who is also the president of Elim Spain) and his wife Noemi. As part of their mission, they are planting churches and taking the gospel to every corner of Spain. Volunteers can be involved in prayer vigils and weekly intercessions alongside the local home groups. Evangelism workshops, prayer walks and visits to nearby villages are also part of the life of the church. Once or twice a year the church holds retreats and conferences. They also work with children and young people, and recently launched the Oasis FM radio station, with the purpose of bringing the Word of God to Spain and the world. The church has a vision to open a Christian school and to collaborate with missionaries, supporting their work and mission.

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

There are many great opportunities to actively participate in what God is doing on the ground. During your time with us, you will serve alongside different local churches in various villages—praying for others, encouraging believers, listening to their stories, and building meaningful relationships. There will also be opportunities to engage in children’s ministry, sharing joy and truth with the next generation. You will take part in the rhythms of prayer and intercession at the House of Prayer, as well as join the Emmaus Encounter, where we study Scripture from a missional perspective. Alongside ministry, you will also experience the richness of Egyptian culture through visits to some of the most significant historical sites in Cairo. We will be visiting the Cave Church, where you will hear the powerful testimony of God’s work and faithfulness in the life of the Church in Egypt. There is also an opportunity to serve in Kings Kids' sister ministry which is supporting single mothers and their children who have had to flee abusive situations. WHAT’S INVOLVED?

A great place for people with a heart for children and/or young people, ideally people with appropriate qualifications and/or experience. Volunteers will have opportunities to work with children in the school from as young as 3 yrs through to 14/15 yrs and with older youth in the church. Activities could include teaching whole classes or small groups in English, Maths, Arts or Sports, or sharing simple board games or various reading activities. There will be lots of opportunities to share your faith, your testimonies, and to lead Bible teaching and encouragements through the school, through the Christian Union, and through the youth meetings in the church. There can also be time to engage and to share life and faith with the adults who work in the school and the farm and the church and amongst our neighbours.

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

There are many great opportunities in the Philippines assisting at The Living Epistle Church (LE) and its church plant, City Gates Church on the east side of Manila. There is also a church plant and a school on the island of Coron, Palawan; and a tribal work in Bambang, Nueva Viscaya, where volunteers are welcome to come and sercve. There is a huge opportunity to bring the Good News of the Gospel to the local communities and to meet the practical needs of the local people, particularly in this time of the Covid 19 pandemic. Each location is always in need of volunteer teachers who can produce ‘digital’ and ‘modular' lessons for the poor and disadvantaged children who do not have internet access and cannot physically go to school at the moment. Tutors are needed to teach in informal settings either online or in small groups. Due to frequent lockdowns, there is a need to help teach, run, and train churches on how to go ‘online’ in their worship services and hold discipleship programs. Each of the three locations continue to hold feeding programs and food pack distributions to families and the less fortunate.

MISSIONARY/PARTNER: Georgina Batucan - Global Ekklesia Ministries International

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

Georgina Batucan (Elim Missionary), and her husband Joseph are based in Cebu, Philippines and work with the GEMII organisation which is an Elim Global partner. You will stay with our missionary family and work with the GEMII team across the 42 Gospel Communities (house churches), on the islands of Cebu and Southern Leyte. Mostly in rural settings and working primarily in poor communities, you will be involved in church planting projects; adult, youth and children’s work; discipleship and evangelism; micro-industry; and leadership training. There is also opportunities for builders, carpenters etc. for rebuilding following Typhoon Rai which hit the Philippines in December 2021.

Make a difference in the lives of the children, men and women in one of the Challenge Ministries centres. You can make an impact by assisting with the work of their residential care centres in Bulembu and Hawane, encouraging the men and women in the rehabilitation and discipleship centres, or assisting the rural church plant team. To best serve these communities, volunteer placements are matched according to current needs and the specific skills volunteers have. A flexible heart and a willingness to serve where needed most are the primary prerequisites. You can be a part of Kingdom transformation, one life at a time.

Sweden

MISSIONARY/PARTNER: Phill & Anneke Taylor

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

Phill, from England and Anneke, from Holland started to work with YWAM in Holland in 1989. They began part-time but God called them full time to Sweden in 1995. In the year 2000, Phill was part of a team that walked through Sweden from Treriksröset to Avesta and prayed for the country. God lead them to Bäsksele, a little village in the Vilhelmina County (in the North of Sweden - Lapland) where they bought a farm and started their work with a YWAM Discipleship Training School. In 2017 they left YWAM and Phill and Anneke joined a Pentecostal church in Vilhelmina, where Phill has been involved in pastoral ministry. Anneke has been teaching English since 2006 and continues this tent-making ministry. They have a prayer-retreat house on the farm, available for people to come and spend time with God, with Phill available to give input if needed.

MISSIONARY/PARTNER: Emmanuel Rucyaba - Life Ministries

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

There are many opportunities to assist at this growing ministry, where 125 churches have been planted to date. These include: Training leaders, working in Christian Health Centres, Agricultural programmes on a 450 acres farm in Kiboga, dealing with animal husbandry and the growing of food and cash crops. Children's Ministry and working with orphans, street kids and other disadvantaged children, giving education and medical care. Working in Christian schools (3 to 18 years) - currently there is a real need for secondary school teachers. Assisting local pastors in the discipleship of former child soldiers of the Joseph Kony "Lord's Resistance Army."

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

Working at Metro World Child in Nakuru, Kenya, where more than 93,000 children are reached with the Gospel on a weekly basis. Activities include teaching education (schools in Kenya are not government funded), feeding programmes, and Sunday Schools. Internships are also available, equipping volunteers to communicate the word of God effectively and take the Gospel to the streets.
