Our View of Tokyo Skyline Whilst Having Coffee With A Friend

June 2024 Update
"You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all who's thoughts are fixed on you!" - Isaiah 26:3
Dear Friends,
We have to be honest, this month has been a rollercoaster! Full of highs and lows, but nevertheless God continues to keep us, and we thank Him for His favour and grace. One of those highs is that Pastor Marcel has finished the paperwork necessary to apply for the Certificate of Eligibility and has submitted the documents to the Japanese government! Pray with us that God grants us the CoE in good time so that we can begin our big move to Tokyo in September 2024.
We are both still in full time work, in education, which has its challenges but we can see how God is using us in both in the schools and amongst the students and staff. Recently, on a few occasions, I (Nitasha) and the only other Christian member of staff at the school have held conversations about God and the Bible after school, that other members of staff have come to positively engage with. Please pray for more of this and for this to bear fruit.
This month, Jordan had the sizeable task of being the sole sound engineer for a live event for a full band and the audience of 100 people. I had the pleasure of attending the event and he was absolutely fantastic!! He was a bit nervous because he was serving in a non-Christian professional environment, but he did really well and things went well with no technical difficulties.
It has been really lovely to have had some pockets of time to spend with some friends and family, and we’re intentionally planning to make the rounds to more of you during the summer. We also currently have availability to continue fundraising in churches, small groups and prayer meetings, so if you have any free slots at your church, please get in touch.
May was a poignant month for us for a handful of reasons, one of which was The Elim Leaders Summit that took place in Harrogate across 3 days. We were thrilled to have been able to attend once more before we head to Japan. It was a great time of teaching, prayer, and connection! Another reason being that it was Jordan’s 35th birthday (which he shares with his lovely twin sister, Taja)! Considering the weather was somewhat damper than we wanted, Jordan enjoyed resting and being well fed. He’s super grateful for all of the birthday wishes, messages and love!
Shortly after our arrival back into Birmingham from the Summit, we had the pleasure of attending the Annual General Meeting of our church, Encounter Selly Oak, which was such a pleasure to be a part of! Even though we will be leaving soon, it was great to be involved in the important matters of church family life whilst we’re still here. We want to thank Phil & Wendy for such brilliant leadership at Encounter.
Marriage has been at the forefront of our conversations lately, and it’s also something many of you know is on our heart and a big part of our ministry as a whole. More this month than in any other this year, we have been leading marriage preparation courses as well as offering wisdom to young married couples. This part of our ministry is something we would appreciate your prayers for, as we know the adversary is always working: pray for insight from the Holy Spirit when offering counsel, and wisdom to signpost the couples who need that extra bit of help.
Friends, after all that has happened this month, we also want to share with you what is happening in the lives of Pastor Marcel & Chiaki of Japan Kingdom Church. We call upon those who believe in the power of prayer through the Lord Jesus Christ, to join us, as we lift them up and pray for them at this time. This month, sadly, their 2 year old son Joshua suffered from an infection, which caused a seizure, which then led to swelling and brain damage. Joshua has been in a coma for a couple of weeks now but we, along with his family, church and other praying supporters, are praying for a breakthrough miracle of healing and restoration. His family are staying strong and faithful in the middle of this trial, so would you please pray for them with us?
Prayer requests for our prayer warriors:
-
Would you join us in prayer for Joshua’s complete healing. And strength for Pastor Marcel & Chiaki.
-
For fundraising opportunities that would help us to reach our goal for regular support
-
For our ministry to young married couples and for marriages in your own sphere of influence.
-
For us in this season for the details of our transition, ie shipping, housing etc.
Thank you so much for your continued support and encouragement!!!
Blessings always,
Nitasha & Jordan Christian
