June 2025 Update

As it is written "whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack". - 2 Cor. 8:15 (ESV)

Dear Friends

This April, we were thoroughly blessed to enjoy a week off to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. I still cannot believe it’s been 10 years that we’ve enjoyed growing, learning and pursing His call for our lives. I’m in awe of His love and mercy! During this time, we went to the Bible Project Open Event where we got to meet Co-Founder John Collins, where we heard about their wonderful expansion into Japan! Praise God! Towards the end of the week, an incredibly talented friend of ours blessed us with a photo shoot in a scenic part of Tokyo to mark the occasion. It was a lovely time and the pictures perfectly captured the beauty of our covenant - we are so happy with them!

Myself & Jordan had the pleasure to fry up a big batch of fish (as per Jamaican culture) to feed the church on Good Friday. We were so blessed to see everyone enjoying the food! This led us into Resurrection Sunday Service, where we were all celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, through a Gospel Choir performance, and more delicious food!

May Happenings!

In May, Pastor Marcel & Lady Chiaki were away at a conference for one week in Alaska. During this time, along with the Assistant Pastor, Sanna-san, we had the responsibility of the smooth-running of the church. Thankfully, due to our faithful Father, the servant hearts and competency of the teams, all went well!

After a few months of zooms and coordinating, we were also able to host a short-term missions trip for a team of 4 students from Sweden. I’d organised meetings for them to connect with creative missionaries, activities that included supporting the church’s outreach ministry (Akiramenai) to those who are homeless in Shinjuku, as well as the opportunity to worship with JKC in English, Swedish, and Japanese! Their visit truly blessed the hearts of the Japanese people who felt God’s love meet with them from the other side of the world. God loves them that much!!

We were so thrilled to spend an evening with a life-long friend, JP, who travelled from Osaka, Japan. It was such a wonderful time of connection and encouragement from our brother!

Jordan has been exercising his gifts and skill set in music production. He has started recording sessions with a number of artists (including Pastor Marcel) to work on producing quality Christian music in Japan. Jordan has also been networking with other producers & composers. One of which came from a very God-ordained encounter at our local train station.

It was Jordan’s Birthday on May 26th!! And boy, did he get celebrated! After work, Pastor Marcel & Lady Chiaki took Jordan, Eri-san and I to TGI Fridays for dinner. We had an evening of travel, good (familiar) food, birthday songs, sundaes and a group picture! But best of all, we laughed, the whole time! We were all so blessed by each other’s company and we were so grateful to Pastor and Lady Chiaki that they celebrated Jordan in this way.

Wins!

A dear friend, Eri-san spent the night with us and stayed in our guest room, then went with us to the City Hall to help us process a few documents. We all had a lovely time together; talking, sharing, eating, praying and getting to know each other. It’s often been said that it can take decades for Japanese people to trust foreigners, let alone visit their home, but to have the honour of hosting Eri-san, it was a true pleasure. Since then, we are pleased to have Eri-san become an official member of staff at Japan Kingdom Church! Would you join us in praying for her transition?

I have been working in the Pastoral Counselling ministry within the church. In addition to developing the systems and structures around this ministry, I have been meeting with many women over the past few weeks, advising, supporting and encouraging them in the midst of their hardships. “You’ve helped me see the importance of forgiveness. It’s freed me, and I was able to apologise to my children and ask for their forgiveness.” Hearing this from one of the ladies helped me to clearly see the number of ways that God is moving here in Japan. We serve such a gracious Father!

Jordan has done an incredible job in developing and training a Media Team for church, which started with a team of 4, now a team of 11, in 9 months! His aim is to finish training them on Media by July, so that he can focus on helping the upcoming youth ministry.

Difficulties:

As we’ve mentioned before, being away from home comes with waves of emotions on a number of occasions, and even more so when things are not going well in England. One of my struggles has been around supporting my family at this time where my grandmother has been very unwell, and at the age of 96, there have been a number of complications with her health. So this has been pretty tough.

Prayer requests

  • Grandmother: Nitasha’s grandmothers’ health seems to be on the decline. She has had Alzheimer’s disease for some time now, but things seem to be getting worse as she ages. Please pray for Nitasha’s grandmother, and her mother Susan, who is doing most of the caretaking at home.
  • Pension: Thank you to those who have been praying and contributing to the pension payments that we have to make - it is truly appreciated! We still need more funding per month if we are going to meet the payments, so please pray for this.
  • Visa: The renewal of our visa is coming up very soon! We can’t believe we have been here for almost a year, accomplished so much within the church and settling in, yet there is still such a great need and work to do!! Please pray that we follow God’s leading in the renewal; that He would open the doors and meet our needs for all of this.
  • Creative Missions: As much as we love being a part of building healthy churches here in Tokyo, we still endeavour to spread the Gospel to the local community through our creative gifts. Would you please join us in prayer about the some opportunities that are in front of us? We can’t wait to share more once we have clear direction.

Thank you again to everyone who reads, prays, gives and believes in the work we are doing with the Lord in Tokyo! We really do appreciate it when you reach out, so drop us a text or an email and we will respond as soon as we can.

All our love,

Nitasha & Jordan
